News and Events at All Saints

God, our Father, we thank you that you gave us this place where we can worship you and where we feel at home. We thank you for the riches you give us by the diversity of our origins and backgrounds. We ask you to continue lavishing your blessings among the people here. Allow us to experience your generosity, so that we can feel at home, allowing us to be open for those who want to join our community and to cross the borders for all who are our brothers and sisters. Amen.

Lenten Scripture Study at All Saints – A Summary

On Monday, March 30th, our Scripture Study program wrapped up with its sixth and final session. Starting with the week of Ash Wednesday, a group of 9-10 people from the communities at All Saints and the Catholic Academy met each week to read and discuss an excerpt from 1 Corinthians. The overarching theme connecting all six excerpts was „Living As Christians“ – reflecting on what the excerpts have to say about what it means to be a part of a Christian community and how we relate to each other. The group discussions led to many insights into how we might better embody Christian values in our interactions with each other, along with many humorous moments as members of the group shared personal experiences. Throughout the program, the members were guided by the structured approach of the Six Weeks With The Bible program by Catholic Perspectives, which included background material, reflection questions, invitations to prayer and inspirational texts for further reading.

At the end of the program, participants gave clear feedback that they felt the program had led both to a better understanding of parts of 1 Corinthians, as well as personal spiritual enrichment. Here are some of their voices:

- [I was] “surprised - how it fit into our world today and how different individuals looked at topics”

- „In some way we have been practising somthing akin to lectio divina, giving the scriptures space to breathe and address us in our own time and place.“

- „I began to visualize life during the time of Paul, something previously irrelevant / intangible to me before. Also, the notes apened up new ways of thinking about the scripture - this was also enhanced (the openness toward scripture) by the discussions.“

- “This program "took you by the hand" to help you read and understand the texts more fully and make it applicable to oneself.”

The All Saints Catholic Community and the ecumenical American Church of Berlin are joining forces to create an English-speaking interfaith youth group! Troop 46 'Freedom Outpost' would like to thank the All Saints community for hosting the legendary Col. Halverson (the Chocolate Pilot) on February 10th at Hüttenweg 46. We had nearly 400 people attend this very successful event!

All Food Donations placed in the wicker basket at the church entrance go to families in need in our community and to the Soup Kitchen of the Sisters of Charity in Kreuzberg.

Many of the collections are „designated collections“, which are for the special purposes of the Archdiocese of Berlin. We transfer this money to the Archdiocese in full. All Saints has readily supported these initiatives from its inception. However, please be advised that, in agreement with the Archdiocese of Berlin, the existence of the All Saints Catholic Community on Hüttenweg may result in no expense for the Archdiocese. It follows then that our community receives no financial support from the Archdiocese. We are left completely to our own devices and existentially dependent upon your donations. Please continue to donate to All Saints, using the white envelopes stamped “ALL SAINTS FUND” and/or transferring your donation to the Pax-Bank account written below. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
